Loneliness, Emotional Regulation and Self-Stigma among Chinese International Students: Development of an intervention to tackle loneliness and improve wellbeing

PROJECT STATUS: Ongoing
/
START DATE AND DURATION: October 2022
Summary

Chinese international students are the largest group of international students in Western universities. Research has clearly shown that Chinese international students have a high prevalence of mental health issues, but there is very little research on mental health interventions for them.

This research seeks to gain a clearer understanding of the factors that influence mental health problems among Chinese international students, and how to adapt existing interventions to their needs so that we can truly provide appropriate mental health services and interventions for this group.

Beginning with a scoping review and comparative study, this project aims to provide concrete directions for enhancing future psychological support measures and services.

Ultimately, we aim to engage and inform the UK Universities of our findings to help them improve the support they provide in order to improve the mental health and overall well-being of international students.
