START DATE AND DURATION: October 2020Many people in the UK and worldwide live with multiple chronic health conditions (multimorbidity). Those in the most disadvantaged social circumstances tend to develop multimorbidity earlier in life, develop co-occurring physical and mental health conditions and have poorer health and social outcomes.
Councils hold an array of anonymous data describing the social circumstances of their residents. This could be used to better understand the social circumstances of residents with multimorbidity and better plan health and care services.
This project is investigating how residents’ NHS and council data can be used to help us better understand the social circumstances of residents with multimorbidity and help inform how senior decision makers design and deliver health and care services.
This project involves:
- A review of the current evidence examining the social circumstances of residents with multimorbidity
- A study analysing a linked NHS and council large dataset that examines the social circumstances of residents with multimorbidity in an area of east London
- A study involving individual interviews with senior decision makers which explore their experiences of using data to inform how they design and deliver health and care services
