The 3rd Sprint National Anaesthesia Project (SNAP-3)

PROJECT STATUS: Ongoing
/
START DATE AND DURATION: February 2021 - February 2025
Summary

The 3rd Sprint National Anaesthesia Project (SNAP-3) aims to describe the impact of frailty and delirium, and their management, on outcomes following surgery in people aged sixty and older.

SNAP-3 will collect data on people aged sixty and older having surgery during a five-day period. It will also investigate how surgical services are organised across the UK, and how medical services are used to support older people needing additional, unplanned care following surgery.

We hope the results of the study will help improve decision-making by patients and clinicians, and provide evidence for optimal design of surgical services.
