Increasing capacity for public health and prevention research in local government

PROJECT STATUS: Ongoing
/
START DATE AND DURATION: March 2021
Summary

In January 2018, the remit of Clinical Research Networks (CRN) extended to support public health and prevention research in non-health settings. CRN-funded posts are hosted in local government to build capacity and spread learning across North Thames and nationally.

In London Borough of Islington we are working across North Central London with a focus on using evidence well to reduce inequalities. Activities include:

  1. A research project to evaluate North Central London’s approach to population health management, including tools to reduce inequalities in Covid-19 vaccine uptake.
  2. Capacity building: using an adapted validated training needs survey to inform skills development activities.
  3. Building networks: through seminars and meetings
