Improving the management of dementia for people with multiple long-term conditions who are living in underserved areas.

PROJECT STATUS: Ongoing
/
START DATE AND DURATION: January 2024 - January 2027
Summary

Around 80% of people with dementia have at least one other long-term condition (LTC). The complexity of managing both dementia and other complex conditions can lead to fragmented care, exacerbating the management of multiple conditions in dementia and, subsequently, increasing healthcare costs. This is particularly forthcoming in underserved areas where funding and resources are limited.

This study will explore the experiences of managing dementia alongside other LTCs and address geographical inequalities in accessing support. This research will assess barriers to well-being and make recommendations to improve the management of dementia and other LTCs for those living in underserved areas. The implementation strategy will be developed collaboratively with the supervisory team, PPI members and experts in the area.
