Unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC), arriving in the UK, have significant mental and physical health needs – many of which remain unmet by current services. To address this, an ‘integrated pathway’ for UASC, an adaptation of one initially developed in Camden and Newham, provides intensive and joined-up support for UASC; with a multidisciplinary team supporting physical and mental health needs.
We will work with UASC and local teams to refine and deliver the integrated pathway across four boroughs in North East London. We will evaluate the health outcomes, cost of delivery and patient/carer experience in the new service.
Crucially, this study will enable us to understand how an integrated pathway model could be scaled nationally and at what cost.
