Centring the experiences of patients from seldom heard groups in the national transformation of primary care access: a case study of experience-based co-design (EBCD)

PROJECT STATUS: Ongoing
/
START DATE AND DURATION: May 2024
Summary

NHS England is taking steps to support primary care meet growing demand for healthcare. In March 2023, they published a plan that explains how GP surgeries should capitalise on digital and workforce innovations to transform the way they deliver access to care.

However, these practice transformations run the risk of creating access inequalities, making it easier for some people to access care, while creating additional barriers for others.

This study uses ‘experience-based co-design’ to understand and improve the experiences of accessing care for patients from seldom heard groups (e.g. people with disabilities, language barriers, or who are homeless).
