EXPERTISE AND INTERESTSI have been an honorary Professor of Geriatric Medicine in the MRC Lifelong Health & Ageing unit at UCL since June 2021, having previously been Professor of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Leicester. With colleagues, I have been awarded funding exceeding £13 million and have published over 150 peer-reviewed papers. I lead the Acute Frailty Network in England (2015-2021), the Specialised Clinical Frailty Network from 2018 and the System Wide Frailty Network from 2021.

My ambition is to improve outcomes for older people living with frailty by embedding evidence based medicine into clinical practice. My service developments and research assess different models of care, testing feasibility as well as clinical and cost-effectiveness. My educational activities are local, national (BGS, RCP) and international (EUGMS,EAMA).

I aim to make an impact. For example the frailty networks I lead have influenced acute care for older people in over 125 UK hospitals, and specialised services in over 60; our 2012 publication the SilverBook has been downloaded over 200,000 times; SilverBook II has international reach.
