Professor Angela is Professor of Intellectual Disability in the Division of Psychiatry at UCL and an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at the Camden Learning Disability Service.
Her main research interests focus on the evaluation of interventions for people with intellectual disabilities. Current research projects include a HTA-funded multicentre cluster randomised trial of positive behaviour support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviour, where Professor Angela serves as Chief Investigator.
She also collaborates with colleagues at Glasgow University on a feasibility randomised controlled trial (RCT) of statins in dementia in people with Down syndrome, with the Department of Public Health at UCL on a pilot RCT of an intervention for obesity, and with colleagues in addictions research on a brief intervention for alcohol misuse.
Professor Angela has also completed trials evaluating cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for depression and anxiety in people with intellectual disabilities.
